(Pastor Nadarkhani and Family: Robert Reed Daly)
With all of the festivities of this holiday season you might have missed this story.
From Fox News:
The Iranian Christian pastor who had been imprisoned in Iran for converting from Islam to Christianity was taken into custody again on Christmas Day, according to several Iranian media sources and individuals close to the pastor and his family.
Youcef Nadarkhani, 35, had been summoned to return back to Lakan Prison in Rasht, the facility where he served time and was then released, based on the charge that he must complete the remainder of his sentence, according to several reports and confirmed by those close to Nadarkhani in Iran.
Response: Pastor Nadarkhani was released earlier this year after immense international pressure upon the Government of Iran. His re-arrest and incarceration is instructive. Since it happened on Christmas Day it was obviously intended to be a statement for his Christian supporters around the world. As of today (12/31/12) he is still in prison.
We have covered the bogus case against pastor Youcef and all the developments over the last several years. It is really sad that the Iranian authorities feel so threatened by this humble pastor and his ministry that they arrest him again and take him away from his family and congregation on one of the major Christian holidays of the year. We need to continue to remember him and his family in our prayers until the injustices of this case are fully resolved.
