-Australia: “Opposing Gay Marriage is Not Discrimination”

by Dr. D ~ August 11th, 2012

Australia is in the midst of a controversy over same-sex marriage like most Western nations.

In a CT article the leader of the Presbyterian Church of Australia, Rev David Jones, is quoted as saying that it is not discriminatory for Christians to support traditional marriage:

"We continually are told that the legalisation of same-sex marriage would end perceived discrimination against same-sex couples who are currently not able to marry under federal government law," said the Rev David Jones, as reported by the Herald Sun.

“But at least from the church perspective, opposition to such legalisation has nothing to do with discrimination," he continued. "Plain and simply, Christians oppose same-sex marriage because the Bible, the word of the God who created male and female and also created marriage, clearly and distinctly says that marriage is between one man and one woman – which means not between two men or two women."

Response: Amen. Rev. Jones captures and communicates very well our own thoughts on this controversial issue.
