-UPDATE, Texas: Thousands Rally to Support Nativity

ATHENS, TX – At least 5,000 people rallied on Saturday at the Henderson County courthouse in response to an atheist attempt to remove a Nativity scene from the courthouse square. Four pastors organized the rally and spoke supporting freedom of religion and the Nativity during the event.
Henderson County officials had received a letter from the Wisconsin Freedom From Religion Foundation demanding that the Nativity scene be removed from the courthouse property. County Judge Richard Sanders replied that the county is already complying with federal law and the Nativity scene will stay where it is.
Here’s a link to our previous post about the situation: -Is a Nativity Scene Intimidating? Really?
Response: The local churches are fighting back with support from all over the state and the country. Fortunately, Henderson County has some leaders who have guts enough to stand up against the assault from the out-of-state atheist organization.
Unfortunately, many cities and counties around the country have complied with the FFRF letters and have removed nativities from the public square. It is doubtful that the FFRF will be able to stand up to all of this kind of public support. After all their side is in reality a dubious legal perspective at best. Exactly how do Nativities or Jewish Menorahs for that matter on public property violate the Constitution by establishing some kind of state religion? *Top
