-Poll: 52% of Americans Support Peter King’s Investigation into Radicalization of American Muslims

Peter king’s Congressional investigation into the radicalization of some American Muslims begins today and according to a recent Gallup poll 52% of Americans actually support the investigations.

Does that make it right? of course not but neither is it necessarily wrong if the majority support it. Especially after all of the protests and negative statements against the Homeland Security committee’s investigation I would have expected the numbers to be quite the opposite.

Meanwhile the Congressman has received a number of threats and the Committee will be under unusual security protection.

Response: I am whole heartedly in favor of the freedom of religion in this country for all religions including Islam. I am against anything or anyone who challenges or wants to limit our freedoms.

However any religious group, minister, or religious leader who raises up and encourages followers to oppose our freedoms and way of life needs to be exposed and challenged no matter what religion they claim to be. I really don’t understand the overwhelming Muslim opposition to the hearings but I do hear their concerns. They are concerned that all American Muslims will be implicated by association.

If there are any radical Christian groups raising up terrorists or militia groups I would have no problem with them being investigated but I sure would watch the proceedings and make sure they were kept on target and limited to real offenders who promote and support illegal actions like terrorism and not just theological or philosophical positions which support a particular eschatological future.

The fact that many Muslims have a hope that America will convert to Islam in the future and becomes an Islamic Republic with Sharia law may be controversial but certainly not illegal. Such views are theological in nature and part of the Muslim religion that are and should be protected under law.

The problem is when Muslim individuals or groups become radicalized and want to take matters in their own hands and oppose the government or take actions in the form of terrorist acts against fellow Americans. That should never be tolerated even if it is in the name of their religion and motivated by their particular theological or eschatological view.

Christians also share an eschatological hope that Jesus will return and rule the entire world. However in Christian theology it is the returning Christ who does all of the action and ‘conquering’ not the Christian Church or Christian groups in preparation.  I would also oppose any radical Christian group or individuals who would try and force their understanding and view of some kind of Millennial Christian kingdom on the rest of us.            *Top

Finally we have someone in Congress with the courage to investigate the radicalization of Muslims and their effect upon America and all of Western Civilization. Should have happened years ago. There have been over 16,000 terrorist attacks across the globe since 9-11 in the name of ‘this religion’. http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/ yet the mainstream media and fools like ‘montana’ want to divert the attention away from the issue. One has to ask why someone would want to continue with this head in the sand approach other than denial. One can always find ways to distract from the facts because they have no desire for the truth.

Amen. Ed, thanks for your contribution.

I can’t believe that anyone can support radical Islam, I’m not talking about Islam. He wants to investigate radical Islam. Anyone opposed to that needs to be investigated (they must be for terrorism). Only 52%? That seems odd.
