Tuesday a six-year-old girl and her Christian father were killed by a car bomb in Mosul. On Monday in Mosul, gunmen barged into a home and killed two Christian men in their living room. Today on Wednesday the bullet-riddled body of a 20-year-old Christian student was found on a street also in Mosul.
This follows the 68 who died in the attack on the Catholic church in Bagdad a couple of weeks ago. Plus five more people in Baghdad’s Christian neighborhoods after that event.
Meanwhile, the militant Muslim group- ‘Islamic State of Iraq’ (which is connected with al-Qaida) not only claims responsibility for the deaths but calls on all Muslims to bring death and destruction upon all the Christians in Iraq:
‘(to open the) “doors of destruction and rivers of blood” on Christians in Iraq
“All Christian centers, organizations and institutions, leaders and followers are legitimate targets for the muhajedeen (holy warriors) wherever they can reach them.”
The Iraqi government and police seem powerless to stop the onslaught and thousands of Christians are in the process of leaving the country.
Response: Very little is being said or done to help these people. It is like they are an inconvenience at best to many in the West who are entrenched in a fanciful PC understanding of Islam.
Over and over again we read the excuse that the trouble is coming from a tiny group of extremists who don’t really represent the majority of Muslims in the Middle East. Yet millions of supposed moderate peace loving Muslims do not lift even their little finger to help.
Meanwhile those of us in America are castigated if we even suggest that a mosque should be moved or that Sharia law should be considered as unconstitutional. Then if someone even suggests that Mohammad might be the subject of a book or TV program the death threats abound.
All the while Christians are being slaughtered in Iraq, Coptic homes are burning in Egypt, and a Christian woman is sentenced to death for a rumor of blasphemy in Pakistan (and that is just this week).
Meanwhile the war goes on in Afghanistan and soldiers are dying everyday even though we refuse to clearly identify the enemy we are up against. Our PC colored glasses remain firmly in place as we dutifully call Islam the ‘religion of peace’. *Top of the Blog
