-Pakistan: Pro-Taliban Muslim Radicals Kill Student for Playing Music

Pro-Taliban Muslim radicals beat to death a student because he was playing music. The incident happened at the University of Engineering & Technology in Peshawar, Pakistan.
The student, Anan Khan, was beaten along with a number of others by the hard-line Jamiat-e Islami party. Members of this Pro-Taliban student group have a practice of breaking up musical functions and dance parties on the campus holding that music is ‘un-Islamic’.
According to Jihad Watch: “The Taliban believe music is un-Islamic. Why? Hadith Qudsi 19:5: “The Prophet said that Allah commanded him to destroy all the musical instruments, idols, crosses and all the trappings of ignorance.””
Response: This is another one of those crazy Muslim stories from the Middle East that most of us in the West find so unbelievable. However it does demonstrate that radical Islam is far more prevalent around the world than most in the West want to admit.
The popular dictum in this country that the radicals are ‘hijacking Islam’ does not hold water in a Middle East that is far more radical at its very foundation and core. *Top
