This was one of the things that shocked me when I first came to America. I'm a native of the Philippines and our schools system (although it's said to be crude by some) does not hinder us from practicing our respective beliefs. We respect each others religion be it Christian, Protestant, Muslim or even those who are non-sectarians. I consider myself very lucky, coming from a Christian (Catholic) country even if it's categorized as a third world. America is known to be the land of the free and the land of equality however this being the case, I wouldn't be surprised if wide spread racism still exists amongst the "PURE" citizens of the country. Sad, very sad...

That is unfortunate Rodney, but seems to be true in all the 'Western' countries. Thanks for the visit and comments.

I would suggest that this kind of attitude is not just alive in America but in many countries around the globe.

We are certainly seeing resistance to Christian thought in Australia.

Thanks Marcus for sharing--that is good to hear. I hope that this is not the case everywhere, I certainly hope that sanity and common sense still reigns in most schools and districts across the country.

However, there seems to be more and more situations where folks like the Rutherford Inst. and out here the Pacific justice int. are kept busy in legal support for Christians.

As a public school teacher for ten years, I certainly didn't find this to be the case.

I was completely open about my faith, but I never urged it on students. I simply shared it with them the way I would share any other part of my life. It didn't come up often because the task at hand was teaching them to read and write with integrity.

But it did come up. I found if I was faithful to my primary duty of teaching them to read and write, I received grace from them in sharing bits of myself when appropriate.
