Thanks for your comments William,
You do make some good points on Hal, but he never claimed to be a prophet--only a Bible teacher and he is very much a product of Dispensationalist Biola where he graduated from.

I have long since left the Dispensational camp and actually have come to appreciate some of the Preterist views that you support. Actually I believe that there is something missing from every eschatological view and we will probably all be somewhat surprised how it all plays out. Here is some fuller comments I made on this same issue on another blog:

There is not one iota of Bible prophecy related to Iran or any modern day country for an alleged future endtime.

Hal Lindsey has proven himself to be a false prophet with his predictions of the end in 1988, (no personal disrespect) which he alleged to be within one generation (40 years) of the modern state of Israel (which has nothing to do with fulfilled Bible prophecy) resettling in Palestine.

That prophecy documented in the Late Great Planet earth is a testimony of the continual barrage of embarrassment to the integrity of the Scriptures pawned on the world by these future doom and gloom fanatics fomented in the frenzy of terrorism and fermented in the media.

The 70 weeks of Daniel re the end of national (Old Covenant Israel) and the fulfillment of Bible prophecy happened in 70 AD with the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple (sanctuary).

That was the end/fulfillment of all Bible prophecy, per the Lord in Luke 21:20-22.

But when you see Jerusalem compassed by armies, then know that its desolation is near [Dan. 9:24-27].

For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. (Luke 21:20-22.

Assuredly, I say to you, this generation [Jesus' own in the first century] would by no means pass away till all things take place. (Luke 21:22)

Can we have a little faith in the words of Christ?
