-Poll: America Still Overwhelmingly Christian?
by Dr. D ~ December 28th, 2007
According to a recent Gallup poll 82% of Americans identify themselves as being Christian. 56% said that religion was very important to their lives and 62% said they participated in a particular church.
America is easily the most religious ‘Western’ country, while Nigeria, Brazil, India and Morocco are the ‘most’ religious nations with over 96% identifying themselves as religious.
Response: If 82% of Americans really followed their religion the country would be a far better place to live. Whole industries like pornography would be out of business. One can only hope and pray for revival.
Interestingly, as a comparison, the 1948 Gallup poll found a 91% Christian population in America. The country was far different in the 50’s when I was growing up. *Top
